ABOUT US

Office of Architecture (ooA) is a family-owned architectural practice based in Wimberley, Texas, serving Central Texas and beyond since 1986. We design custom residential and commercial projects grounded in construction-rooted knowledge, direct architect involvement, and a client-focused approach.

Neel Morton, AIA

President & Principal

Neel Morton, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, became a registered architect in 1985 and opened his first architectural office in Austin in 1986.

Early in his career, Neel recognized that truly serving clients required a deep understanding of how buildings are actually constructed. He spent several years working in the construction industry, supervising the building of custom single-family residences, cluster housing, and townhomes as part of a real estate development firm in Houston, Texas.

“I didn’t know how much I didn’t know when I left school, but I soon found out. Working in the construction industry was one of the smartest moves I made early in my career.”

Neel has since designed and managed the construction of a wide range of projects, including private residences, commercial buildings, medical facilities, restaurants, churches, recreational facilities, and multi-family developments, including a co-housing project in Tucson, Arizona.

A long-standing interest in sustainable design has led Neel to explore and work with alternative building systems such as adobe, rammed earth, straw bale construction, structural insulated panels (SIPs), and insulated concrete forms (ICFs), bringing a thoughtful, research-driven approach to material selection and building performance.

Dax Morton, AIA, NCARB

PROJECT ARCHITECT & DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

From an early age, Dax Morton knew he wanted to follow in his family’s footsteps. Raised around construction sites with his father, a Master Electrician, Dax developed an early appreciation for the building trades while discovering a passion for architectural design and creative problem-solving.

“I loved the construction industry, but I also knew I wanted to use my design skills. Architecture became the perfect balance.”

Before joining Office of Architecture full-time, Dax gained professional experience with Strategic Design Group, the in-house design team for H-E-B, as well as hands-on field experience working as an electrician’s apprentice. This combination of design and construction background continues to inform his practical, detail-driven approach to architecture.

Since joining ooA in 2014, Dax has worked on a wide range of projects—from quaint custom homes to multi-level office buildings. His primary experience includes healthcare, retail and office buildings, and single-family residential projects. Dax has managed projects through all phases of design, from initial programming and schematic design through construction documentation and contract administration, and remains actively involved throughout construction.
